A curious Fox stopped by to stare at the Wildlife Camera.

Here are Wildlife camera pics and vids from 2023-10-26.
On Windows10 I used a combination of Handbrake and simple video editor tools for trimming, snapshotting and concatenating. On Windows7, however no such apps exist. While I could use Handbrake for transcoding VLC is a one stop shop.

Trim videos:

1. Open each individual video in vlc and record only the portion of the video you want.
2. If the video automatically starts playing, pause it.
3. Slide the video back to the beginning of the portion you want to keep.
4. Click the record button.
5. Click the play button.
6. Click the record button once you've reached the end of the portion you want to keep.

A new video file will have been created in whatever directory location is set in preferences. If recording from the very beginning the first second or so will get skipped. Can't be helped.

Transcode all videos to smaller mp4 versions:

1. Open vlc Media->Open Multiple Files
2. Select the videos.
3. Click the Convert button.
4. Create a new profile with the following settings:
   
   1. Encapsulation: MP4/MOV
   2. Video Codec: H-264, Bitrate: 500 kb/s, Quality: not used, Frame Rate: same as source, Resolution: Scale: .25, Frame Size: Auto,Auto
   3. Audio Codec: MPEG 4 Audio (ACC), Bitrate: 128 kb/s, Channels: 2, Sample Rate: 48000 Hz
5. Check the box to append -converted to the file name.
6. Click Start

Concatenate all transcoded videos into one:

It is impossible to concatenate multiple videos into one using the Windows version of VLC, therefore, it must be done using the CLI. For Example:

vlc.exe IMG_0002-converted.mp4 IMG_0003-converted.mp4 IMG_0005-converted.mp4 IMG_0007-converted.mp4 IMG_0012-converted.mp4  --sout "#gather:std{access=file,dst=2023-10-26.mp4}" --sout-keep

This eight point buck is still hangin around my wildlife camera.

Wildlife camera caught a glimse of a slender coyote passing by, a deer munching apples, and a very well-rounded woodchuck munching apples.

Wildlife camera caught a rabbit at night, turkeys at dawn, a fox at dusk.

Wildlife camera caught Croissant with a kill, a rabbit, a fox, and a skunk all within a few hours of each other. Then, this majestic buck hangs around for quite some time gorging on apples. A few turkeys passed by during the day yesterday.

Coyotes peeing, foxes peeing, deer munching, skunks and raccoons exploring. The wildlife camera catches it all!
